"summary": "A prototype ring draws sweat through an osmotic hydrogel and tracks as many as four biochemical markers at once.",
"body_text": "A UC San Diego-led team integrated an electrochemical sensor array, passive osmotic sweat collection, fluid channels, electronics, and a flexible battery into a ring. In initial tests with healthy volunteers and people with type 1 diabetes, configurations measured up to four markers selected from glucose, ketones, vitamin C, uric acid, lactate, and alcohol, while the battery supported roughly 12 hours of operation. The prototype tracked trends against commercial references, but it is not an approved medical device and the study does not establish clinical outcomes.",
