Text monitors caught nearly every blunt request but few implied ones: in some settings, up to 95% of implied-harm runs completed with no flag, and recalibrating on robot instructions did not close the gap. Linear probes separated harmful from harmless instructions in the base language and vision-language models, but that signal weakened after robot training. The paper isolates a concrete monitoring problem: ordinary-looking actions can acquire risk from purpose that a guard never sees stated plainly.",
